Welcome
Salema is a delightful fishing village situated in the western Algarve, Portugal. It lies midway between Sagres and Lagos. Salema is a typical Portuguese village with its wide, sheltered bay making the long stretch of beach ideal for swimming. Salema has been awarded the coveted ' Blue Flag' to show that the water meets all European standards of cleanliness. It was also voted 2nd best beach in Portugal by a European Travel magazine.
The beach, with its indigenous fishing fleet of traditional brightly coloured boats, is a delight to behold - their catches of bream, mackerel, sardines and sea bass often appearing in the local restaurants the same day.
Salema offers beautiful food in wonderful surroundings. ALL of the restaurants are excellent in their differing ways offering freshly cooked food at affordable prices. You won't find a 'Fast Food' outlet in Salema.
There are two small supermarkets in Salema which cater for most if not all of the holidaymaker's basic needs. The friendliest is Romero's located right next to the Boia Bar. There is a larger supermarket (Ecomarché) in nearby Budens and several more just 12 km away in Lagos. There are also 11 bars and restaurants in Salema with still more only a short drive away.
Taxis are available from next to the Phone Box in the square and there is an hourly Bus service to Lagos or Sagres.
Parque da Floresta Golf and Spa Resort which has golf, tennis, bowling, gym, spa and several restaurants is only 2km away.
Faro airport is approx 70 minutes drive, most of the journey being on the Motorway-style A22.
